City poet to be read over US airwaves

A CITY poet will have his work heard by thousands of people across the United States later this month.

Young Dawkins will feature on the popular Garrison Keillor slot The Writer's Almanac – a daily radio programme of poetry and historical interest pieces.

The poem Mr Keillor will read, Letter to My Unborn Child, is taken from Mr Dawkins' recently published collection, The Lilac Thief.

Mr Dawkins said: "I start every day by opening my e-mail and reading The Writer's Almanac newsletter, so this is a real honour for me."

Mr Dawkins will also perform on the same bill as former member of The Doors, Ray Manzarek, at the Jazzmouth poetry and jazz festival, New Hampshire, America.
