City office supply to be 'critical' in next 2 years

SUPPLY of new offices in the Capital will become "critical" within the next two years, property experts said today.

The economic slump has meant that there has been a huge decline in the amount of development across the city, especially in the office sector.

The only office site currently being developed is the offices above the extension to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Ben Reed, director of Jones Lang LaSalle in Edinburgh, said: "With only the Site HI office development (above the EICC) under construction in Edinburgh our prediction of supply gradually becoming critical over the next 18-24 months appears to be more certain."
