City marathon date revealed

ORGANISERS of the Edinburgh Marathon have announced the date for next year's race.

The 2012 event will take place on Sunday May 27, with a series of smaller races taking place the day before. Entries will be open to the general public from September 1.

This year's event was described as "a shambles" amid complaints about a lack of atmosphere and poor organisation. Complaints were also made after a large TV, installed to screen footage of runners at the finishing line, broke down.
