City hosts UN green talks

A UN-LED initiative promoting renewable technology to business will be launched in front of 300 delegates at a conference at Heriot-Watt University this week.

Held in conjunction with the UN and the European Energy Centre the conference, which takes place on Friday, will showcase Scottish and European innovations used for heating and cooling.

European Energy Centre UK director Paolo Buoni said it was hoped the launch of the Green New Deal, which follows similar initiatives in Italy and India, will result in more businesses adopting green technologies.

He said: "In Italy the launch saw an overall increase of 20 per cent of businesses adopting these new technologies. We are confident it will be successful as the seed is already here in Scotland."
