City homes left with no power

Hundreds of homes in the Capital were left without power after a substation fault.

Apologising for the inconvenience, a ScottishPower spokeswoman said around 500 homes in the Crewe Toll and Craigleith areas were left without electricity between 4.40pm and 7.30pm yesterday due to a fault at the Telford Road substation.

The power cut hit as the Capital experienced yesterday’s cold snap, with sleet and snow falling in some areas. Elsewhere thousands of homes in the North-east, Tayside and the Highlands were also left without power.
