City designer wins prize for Holocaust publication

A GRAPHIC designer for Edinburgh City Council has been awarded a top industry accolade for her work in a publication raising awareness of libraries' role in Holocaust Memorial Day 2011.

Suzi Ridley, who has worked for the council for 11 years, won the Best Typography category at The Creative Exchange awards for 2011. Her award was in recognition of her design work on Untold Stories, which was inspired by the donation of the Ernest Levy Archive to the city.

Fellow city council designer Simon Goundry was awarded runner-up in the Best Illustration category for his leaflet designs for the Edinburgh environmental campaign.

Suzi said: "I'm thrilled to receive this award.

"Untold Stories was a very fulfilling project to work on - it was a sensitive brief and I found it satisfying to come up with a creative solution that both met the design requirements and communicated the poignant message."
