City to back ‘factor’ code

City council chiefs are to back plans by the Scottish Government to draw up a code of conduct for property “factors”.

The government is carrying out a consultation into plans for a national register of factors, in order to deal with concerns by some owners and tenants that they are being ripped off.

The response set to be submitted – if approved by councillors – agrees with the standards in the proposed code but asks that the responsibilities of factors are clearly laid out.
