Church set for a conversion

A DECISION on whether to allow a church to be turned into flats will be made next week.

Council officials recommended that approval should be granted for plans to convert St Kentigern's Church in Fountainbridge into student flats and a waterside restaurant.

But councillors on the city's development management sub-committee opted to delay a final decision until they carried out a site visit, following concerns by local representatives that the scheme represented "over-development" of the site.

A final decision will now be made at a meeting in the City Chambers on Wednesday.
