Church prays festival is a high point

AN Edinburgh church has organised a festival with a difference.

Next month's Festival of Meditation and Prayer at Mayfield Salisbury Church in Newington will include music, lectures, workshops and worship.

Organiser Reverend Scott McKenna said: "The culture of our times is full of uncertainties. We lead lives that are too busy. This festival creates space for people of all faiths, and those still searching, to reflect on how to reconnect with their spiritual side."

The festival opens on Friday, September 3 with a musical event - Meditation through Music. The programme, which runs until September 26, features speakers from other churches, including Jesuit priest Father Gerard Hughes.

Other highlights are "Godly Play" with Eilie Blackwood and a workshop on links between opera and Christianity.
