Church artefacts exhibition

AN EXHIBITION on the history of St George’s West Church is being held before its congregation moves to a new home.

The famous site at Shandwick Place is set to be bought by Charlotte Baptist Church for £1.5 million following the merger of St Andrew’s and
St George’s West in 2010.

The united congregation will move to George Street, which is undergoing a £1m refurbishment and upgrade, at the beginning of March.

Parish minister Ian Gilmour said it would be the last chance for people to see photographs and artefacts about the church.

He said: “The exhibition has been prepared by six elders of the congregation, many of whom were part of the St George’s West congregation.”

It’s open Monday to Saturday, 10am-4pm, and Sundays from 12.30-2pm, until January 20.
