Christmas special for Downton Abbey

ITV has announced plans for a festive special of hit country house drama Downton Abbey.

The Christmas special will continue where the second eight-part series, scheduled for this autumn, ends.

The first series of the surprise hit was not screened on Scottish terrestrial television by STV.
