Christmas Island memorial service held

A MEMORIAL service was held yesterday on Australia's Christmas Island for the victims of a boat sinking that left at least 30 people dead.

Further services are planned this week for the victims of Wednesday's sinking, which 42 people survived. The bodies of 30 men, women and children - all would-be illegal immigrants - have been recovered.
