Chisholm joins fight against Leith biomass power station

FRESH concerns have been raised about plans for a renewable energy plant in Leith by a local MSP and one of the area's largest housing providers.

MSP Malcolm Chisholm said he was formally objecting to the proposal for the biomass plant at Albert Dock amid worries about its proximity to housing and environmental concerns.

Leith Housing Association also called for a full independent health assessment to be carried out before the plan got approval.

Mr Chisholm said: "In objecting I am not just speaking for myself, but for literally hundreds of constituents who have raised concerns and objections about the proposal."

Forth Energy, the developer behind the plans, says the facility will create local jobs and help Scotland meet renewable energy targets.
