Chippy sign 'out of plaice'

A MEMBER of the Capital's biggest food family has been refused permission to erect an "overly large and dominant" sign over his chip shop in Davidson's Mains.

Antonio Crolla hoped to create a new sign above his Corbie Fish Restaurant, on Main Street, but his plans failed to impress city planners.

Mr Crolla, who also owns Dario's on Lothian Road, Bar Napoli on Hanover Street and has recently been given the go-ahead for a new restaurant on Chambers Street, was told his sign would be "detrimental to the appearance of the neighbourhood".
