Chip pan fire sparks call

Firefighters were called to a chip pan fire in Niddrie yesterday afternoon.

Emergency crews from Liberton, Tollcross and Newcraighall attended the blaze, which broke out at Niddrie Farm Grove just after 2pm.

The fire was extinguished before their arrival.

A 57-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl were found to be suffering from smoke inhalation, but chose not to go to hospital.
