Chinese visit to Eric Liddell charity aims to forge links

A FAMOUS Edinburgh charity is receiving a visit from a Chinese delegation this week in honour of the man whose name it was founded under - Olympic gold medallist Eric Liddell.

Chen Zepu, the vice-mayor of Weifang city in north-east China - home to a museum honouring Liddell's athletic achievements and his later work as a Christian missionary in China - will be visiting the Eric Liddell Centre at Holy Corner on Wednesday to meet trustees of the centre and Liddell's niece, Sue Liddell Canton.

She said: "I have been involved in the Eric Liddell Centre since the beginning. I know my uncle would be proud to see it come so far, in all it does caring for the people of Edinburgh. We hope through meeting the Chinese visitors that we can forge close links with the Eric Liddell Museum in Weifang."
