Chinese team aims for record dive

CHINESE scientists aim to complete the world's deepest dive in a submersible in 2012 by going to 22,966ft, state news agency Xinhua said.

The Jiaolong reached 16,591ft in a dive in international waters in the Pacific in the early hours of yesterday, Xinhua added.
