Chinese table fetches £120k

A RARE Chinese table found at an Edinburgh home has gone under the hammer for £120,000.

The zitan "dragon" rectangular table, crafted from an unusual and slow growing wood, was sold at Bonhams auction house in London.

Colin Sheaf, chairman of Bonhams Asia, said: "Many of these Chinese artefacts came to Britain over the last few centuries, and these items are now spread throughout Britain, passed down in families who often are unaware how dramatically the value of some Chinese items has increased."
