Chinese economic chiefs in trip to strengthen city links

CHINESE economic development chiefs are to visit the Capital to speak to city leaders about forging business links.

Zhou Xiaoming, minister counsellor of the economic and commercial counsellor's office at the Chinese embassy in the UK, will head a delegation arriving in Edinburgh tomorrow.

The delegation is to attend a meeting at the City Chambers with political leaders, as well as representatives of the city's festivals and business community.

The event, in the Dunedin Room, will include a round table discussion hosted by council leader Jenny Dawe and economic development leader Tom Buchanan on how the Chinese embassy in the UK can assist Edinburgh firms set up stronger links with China.

Mr Zhou will also give an introduction of the work that is already done by the embassy.

Among those taking part will be Faith Liddell, director of Festivals Edinburgh, and James Wood, of the Edinburgh BioQuarter.
