China overtakes UK in global art market

The UK has been overtaken by China as the world's second largest art market in terms of sales, a new report has found.

New figures suggest the UK's share of the global market has dropped by 5 per cent since 2006, allowing China to become the world number two after the US, the UK dropping to third.
