Children hurt by used needles

THE parents of three children are waiting for the results of blood tests after they were injured by used syringes dumped in a children's play park.

Four-year-olds Bradley Rowlands, Adele Davidson and Kyle Cushley picked up the needles and unwittingly pricked their fingers. The families now have to spend six months awaiting the outcome of hospital tests to see whether the children have been infected.

Bradley's mother, Nicola Leggat, said: "I've never been more terrified - all I can think of is Aids and hepatitis."

The children were playing yards from their homes in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, on 31 May.
