Children get free eye tests

A West Lothian optician has given free eye tests and glasses to a group of underprivileged children from Belarus.

The group of 28 youngsters went to the Livingston branch of Specsavers for eye check-ups as part of a visit organised by the Friends of Chernobyl Charity, which provides help to the children still suffering the effects of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor meltdown in 1986.

Heidi Grant, from the Charity's Edinburgh West branch, commended the company for their help on what was the charity's fifth consecutive visit to the store.
