Child porn case cleric laid to rest

A FUNERAL service has been held for a Church of Scotland minister who was implicated in a police child porn probe.

The Rev Jim Bain, 40, who was preparing to stand trial in connection with the possession of indecent images of children, was found dead at his Portobello home by police on Sunday night.

Representatives of the Presbytery of Edinburgh attended Mr Bain’s funeral yesterday in Cowdenbeath.

Bain was suspended from his post at Corstorphine Old Parish Church in June pending the outcome of the police inquiry.

A spokesman for the Kirk said today: "We extend our deepest sympathy to Mr Bain’s family on this untimely loss."
