Child charity in appeal for tartan events

KILTS and other tartan accessories are being used to raise money for vulnerable children.

Edinburgh-based charity Children 1st is appealing to people to arrange tartan-themed events in the run-up to St Andrew's Day in a bid to generate more cash.

Kilts for Kids Day will officially take place on November 28 and the Grange group has enlisted the help of well-known Scots faces such as broadcaster Kaye Adams and comedian Karen Dunbar.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: "For more than 120 years the charity has protected children, helped them recover from abuse, and supported families.

Children 1st is (now] encouraging everyone to turn Scotland tartan and organise Scottish-themed events."
