‘Chicken lorry’ catches fire on A75

A lorry driver had a lucky escape on Thursday morning when his load of chicken pieces caught fire between Newton Stewart and Gatehouse of Fleet on the A75.

Firemen from newton Stewart and Castle Douglas brought the fire under control but the lorry and its load were destroyed. The road was shut for an hour during operations.
