Cheque's in the postcode

A PENSIONER is celebrating after scooping £30,000 with the People's Postcode Lottery.

Ian Cant couldn't believe his luck when representatives appeared at his door with a massive cheque after his postcode, EH7 5PR, was drawn as this week's Street Prize winner.

The 71-year-old, who has lived in Bothwell Street in Leith for more than 40 years, was blown away by his big win.

He said: "I feel like a millionaire! I signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery because it's a local lottery and I felt there was a better chance of winning - I've been proved right."

Mr Cant, who has worked as a tour guide at Edinburgh Castle and on the Royal Yacht Britannia, plans to spend his windfall on home improvements and a holiday for himself and his partner, Hugh.
