‘Check feet’ agency urges

THOUSANDS of people in the Lothians could be at risk of amputation because they have not had their diabetes fully checked out, it has been warned.

Diabetes UK in Scotland said more foot checks were needed to reduce the future risk of surgical removal. As a result, it has launched a campaign highlighting 15 measures patients should take to ensure their health is maintained.

National director north of the border, Jane-Claire Judson, said: “This as an important tool to make sure everyone diagnosed with diabetes in Scotland receives the best care possible.”
