Charlie Sheen 'found naked in hotel room'

Actor Charlie Sheen has been taken to hospital for psychiatric checks after police were called to his New York hotel room where they found him naked and throwing furniture around.

The 45-year-old was said to be highly intoxicated and had been yelling at the city's Plaza Hotel.

Sheen was not arrested, but checked himself into a hospital for an evaluation and he is expected to be released today.

His publicist said: "Charlie had an adverse allergic reaction to some medication." The hotel has made no official complaint about any possible damage.

It is the latest in a series of troubles for Sheen, the star of Two and a Half Men, and films such as Wall Street and Platoon, who has had problems with alcohol and drugs in the past.

In August, he pled guilty to a Christmas Day assault on his wife, Brooke Mueller Sheen. In 1998, his father, actor Martin Sheen, turned him in for violating his parole after a cocaine overdose resulted in him being hospitalised.
