Charity trust services plan

A CASH-STRAPPED local authority is considering delivering some services through a charitable trust and is set to consult local residents.

East Lothian Council's spending on services over the next three years is set to outstrip income by 41 million.

Council Leader, Paul McLennan, said: "In October 2009, the council launched enjoyleisure as a charitable company limited by guarantee to deliver leisure services. This has saved around 660,000 a year. We are now considering whether to transfer more services to enjoyleisure."
