Charity calls on support for autistic

A CHARITY has called for a national strategy to support the tens of thousands of autism sufferers in the country.

The National Autistic Society Scotland has consulted with 100 other organisation and scores of individuals to create the We Exist report.

It says too many people with the condition have to fight to get the correct support, and that the Scottish Government should step in.

A survey the charity carried out showed that nearly half of people with the illness felt the help they received was poor, or very poor.

Carol Evans, the organisation's national director for Scotland, said: "This campaign seeks to improve the lives of the 50,000 people with autism in Scotland as well as their families."
