Charities net woman’s win

NOT many people would consider giving all their lottery winnings to charity.

But kind-hearted resident Jameela Muneer has done exactly that after scooping £1412 on the National Lotto last week.

The 50-year-old, who matched five numbers last Wednesday, has donated the money to a number of charities, including the Royal National Institute of Blind People, the Cleft Lip And Palate Association, YoungMinds and Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Mrs Muneer, who lives in Newington, was head of English at Tynecastle High School for 12 years and is currently studying law at Edinburgh University.

She said she didn’t feel comfortable spending the money on herself and wanted it to go to good causes.
