Chaos over scrappage of home reports

A LEADING estate agent in the Capital has said there is growing confusion about whether home reports will be scrapped in Scotland.

Scott Brown, estate agency partner at Warners, said many of his clients think they are to be scrapped as part of the new UK Government's proposal to axe home information packs.

But the changes will only affect England and Wales – with home reports continuing in Scotland.

"We've already had a number of calls from people in Edinburgh who are either buying or looking to sell their properties and who are concerned about the legislation," said Mr Brown.

"They have been asking whether they still need a home report to be able to sell their property or not, now that there is a new government in place.

"Therefore it's important to stress that the home report legislation is governed through the Scottish Parliament."
