Centre's fate goes to AGM

Plans to close the Multiple Sclerosis Society's North Berwick respite centre are to be challenged at the charity's AGM later this month.

Leuchie House and three other UK centres are set to be closed, despite over 8000 objections by MS sufferers.

The society surveyed its members, and from 1600 responses it concluded that they wanted money to be spent on more choice and holiday-style breaks.

However, critics say only dedicated respite centres can cope with their needs.

The AGM is due to take place in London on September 25.
