Centre turns to recycling

A RECYCLING point has been created at a Lothian tourist attraction to allow visitors to dispose of rubbish in an environmentally-friendly way.

The recycling facility has been installed at the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick, East Lothian.

Councillor Barry Turner, environment spokesman, said: "Finding a site for the recycling bank in North Berwick was a problem as the streets are so narrow, so we contacted Tom Brock, head of the Seabird Centre, to see if we could come up with a solution.

"This is a great location for the bank as our collection vehicles can get easy access and it is a point where the public can recycle 'on the go' and residents who live in flats can use the bank if they can't find space to store recycling boxes."

Similar banks have been installed in Court Street in Haddington, Musselburgh Promenade and Dunbar High Street.
