Centre stores up a surge in new shoppers

ONE of the biggest shopping centres in the Lothians has seen its number of shoppers surge by nearly a fifth.

The Centre at Livingston recorded a 19 per cent increase in footfall in the financial year to the end of March.

More than 12.5 million shoppers visited The Centre, which includes the new Elements Square, over the year. The Centre also includes Debenhams and Marks & Spencer, as well as large outlets of H&M, Topshop and Dorothy Perkins.

Owner Land Securities said the value of its Scottish assets increased by 7.8 per cent in 2009/10, to 640 million.
