Celtic head physio went to Italy when due in court

CELTIC have been criticised for taking head physio Tim Williamson to Italy for a Champions League match when he should have been in court.

The club and Williamson were accused of showing “a total lack of respect” to the court by flying to Turin for last Wednesday night’s defeat to Juventus.

Williamson, 43, from Dunblane, was due to appear at Perth’s JP court to face a charge of driving at 100mph on the A9 Stirling to Perth road. He is alleged to have been speeding in a new Audi A6 at Netherton by Blackford in Perthshire on 28 July last year.

Justice of the peace John Stewart said: “I’m not really interested in what he does for a living. If someone is cited to come to court then that is where they should be. It is a total lack of respect for this court.”

A trial is due to take place later this month. Mr Stewart said Williamson would be arrested if he failed to show up then.
