Celtic fan joins in the Tour De France

THE TOUR De France has already seen some spectacles this year, not least Mark Cavendish’s devastating crash, however the sight of one spectator in a Celtic top and sunglasses jogging along at the front of the race certainly wasn’t expected.

The unnamed man was captured on video, running out in front of the competitors, as thousands lined the streets to show their support for the race. The man then quickly rejoined the crowd on the sidelines leaving the cyclists looking far from amused.

It’s not the first time the fans have caused consternation for the racers this year, with one fan being elbowed by racer Roy Curvers and another who had his phone grabbed from his hand and thrown to the ground by Ramunas Navardauskas after he got a little too close to the action.

Remarkably, some fans have even been lambasted by the racers for trying to get ‘selfies’ during the race, with Tejay Van Garderen tweeting: “Standing in the middle of the road with your back turned while 200 cyclists come at you, just to take a selfie. #think #TDF2014”
