'Catastrophic' wind turbine plan attacked

PLACING a wind turbine close to the A1 and the east coast railway line could have "catastrophic" consequences, according to nearby residents.

Protestors say proposals to put a turbine south of the Spott Roundabout near Dunbar could result in disaster if it broke up and scattered debris. They also fear it could distract drivers.

They want East Lothian Council to reject the proposal when it is considered tomorrow.

Operator Community Windpower said the turbine would be 18 metres from the edge of the A1 and 240 metres from nearest railway and had been approved by Transport for Scotland and BEAR.
