Casualty falls count on rise

MORE people have turned up at the Lothians' casualty wards over the past weeks as a result of slipping on ice, health chiefs have said.

The freezing weather has caused hazardous conditions underfoot, which is being seen at accident and emergency wards.

The health board's director of facilities John Jack said: "Over the past couple of weeks we have seen an increase in the number of patients coming in with injuries sustained through slips and falls."
