Castle sees the light in switch-off

EDINBURGH Castle will be among the landmarks plunged into darkness next month for the Earth Hour switch-off.

The annual event, which is marked across the world, sees thousands switch off their lights to demonstrate support for people and wildlife affected by climate change.

Dr Richard Dixon, director of WWF Scotland, said: "We are well on track to make Scotland's Earth Hour the biggest and best ever thanks to the support of the Scottish Government and all our local authorities."

This year's event takes place on March 26 at 8.30pm.
