Casino plans dealt a blow

PLANS for a mega-casino at Fountainpark have been knocked back by the council's licensing board, after Stanley Casino used the wrong address in an advert to let people know about the proposals.

Consultant John Loudon, who objected to the proposal on behalf of Mecca Bingo operators Rank Group Gaming Division, said the advert had not properly described the proposed venue's location.

Lawyers for Stanley Casino argued that the address was the one they were provided on their lease. The council agreed that the address was insufficient for people to know what was being talked about and said the company should re-advertise their plans.
