Cash depot's fence move

A CASH-HANDLING depot has been granted permission for an anti-ram security fence at its depot in north Edinburgh.

The council landed itself in hot water with security firm G4S when it put maps and technical specifications of the fence online, contrary to the company's requests for confidentiality.

The council said it had a statutory obligation to publish the plans and claimed they contained nothing sensitive, but later removed them after being contacted by the company. They have now approved G4S's planning application.
