Cash advice for cancer patients

A SCHEME to help people with cancer manage their household bills could be rolled out across the country.

Advisers are being given training on housing legislation to enable them to provide up-to-date guidance for people diagnosed with cancer.

At least 90 per cent of cancer patients' household incomes either shrunk or had to cover increased costs as a direct result of their disease, according to a survey for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Shelter Scotland and Macmillan Cancer Support are piloting the initiative in Lanarkshire, with the hope it will become popular elsewhere in Scotland.
