Case study: 'Treatment has given me my life back'

Jacqueline Gemmel from Glasgow spent years hiding indoors after suffering burns caused by a steroid cream her GP prescribed for a skin rash in 2003.

She said: "It was horrific, it looked as if I had been branded. It was dreadful, swollen and weeping and felt like it was on fire. My esteem went through the floor and I went into hiding."

After researching on the internet for years to find a solution she stumbled upon ReCell.

With the financial help of her family, she was able to undergo treatment at the end of March.

She said: "What put me off at first was whether it was ethical because it could be embryonic cells and the fear of rejection. But it's your own cells and that means there is no rejection."

She added: "It was a little uncomfortable, but not as much as I thought it would be. There was no pain afterwards and already my eyes are definitely better and I don't have a rash any more. It's given me my life back."
