Caring couple in mammoth hike in memory of Oliver

A WEST Lothian couple are preparing to complete a 96-mile hike in memory of a baby who lost his battle with cancer.

Oliver Gill was born in July 2010 with a rare and aggressive form of the disease, and died on Christmas Day that year.

The LoveOliver charity was set up to fund research into childhood cancer, and has so far raised more than £100,000.

Some of the cash has gone to buy toys and equipment for the oncology ward at the Sick Kids hospital. Oliver’s “honorary auntie” Kate Murray, and her partner Iain MacDonald, of South Queensferry, are to
complete the West Highland Way walk from Glasgow to Fort William next month to raise money for the cause.

Kate said: “Losing Oliver was so painful and I want to
do as much as I can to help other families in similar
positions.”
