Carers with the X-Factor

COUNCIL chiefs are launching a massive drive to recruit foster carers in the Capital - by advertising during the X Factor.

The call for more carers will appear during this Sunday's show as part of a series of adverts which will run from today for a week on STV.

Council chiefs are trying to address the severe shortage of foster carers in the city.

Education leader Marilyne MacLaren said: "We want to encourage people from all backgrounds to become foster carers as we need a broad spectrum of people who can look after children in our care.

"X Factor is obviously hugely popular and this approach is a great way for us to get our message to lots of potential carers. A foster home can have a huge impact on a child's life, helping them towards a happy future - it really is a very special role."
