Care probe report to be made public

THE city’s health leader has said the findings of an investigation into the care that two elderly siblings received at their Edinburgh home will be made public.

A probe was launched into the care John Gibson and his sister, Thomasina, were given by council-appointed carers after concerns were raised over their physical condition and state of their home in Bellevue.

Mr Gibson later passed away at the Western General.

Councillor Ricky Henderson, convener of the health, social care and housing committee, said: “There may be a balance to be struck, but we will publish as much as possible while also protecting personal information.”

The private company that provided the care services to the council, Mears PLC, has pledged to assist the local authority with its investigation.
