Care home flouted ruling

FIRE chiefs say they have issued an enforcement notice to a care home in the Lothians which did not come up to appropriate standards.

After a fire that killed 14 people at Rosepark nursing home in Lanarkshire in 2004, guidance was issued by the Scottish Government on the standard of fire doors in care homes.

Now, a report for the Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Board has shown that an enforcement notice was issued to one unnamed care home after it failed to carry out work.

Chief fire officer James Campbell said: "It was subsequently completed within three months."
