Care boss in call for action

THE CHAIRMAN of a care home group for the elderly has called for radical measures to meet the rising cost of caring for Scotland's ageing population.

Commenting on the recent publication of the Independent Budget Review's recommendations on the future funding of free personal care, Tony Banks, chairman of the Balhousie Care Group - which provides residential care for the elderly - said: "We now need bold measures to guarantee that elderly people receive the quality of care they deserve."
