Cardinal set to launch parade

A PARADE to welcome the Pope to Edinburgh will be launched in the Capital today.

Cardinal Keith Patrick O'Brien will launch the St Ninian's Day Parade, dubbed a "grand Scottish spectacle", to welcome Pope Benedict XVI to the city next month.

Cardinal O'Brien will be joined by the Minister for Culture and External Affairs, MSP Fiona Hyslop.

The Pope will arrive in Edinburgh on September 16 - St Ninian's Day.
